Derek Schoonmaker: Washington State Employment Attorney

Derek has over a decade of experience litigating wage and hour, discrimination, and retaliation cases for workers. Before entering private practice, Derek directed the workers’ rights practice at Centro Legal de la Raza in Oakland, California. There, he represented low-wage and immigrant workers, supervised attorneys, and partnered with unions and community organizations to enforce workplace protections and advocate for policy change.

Derek earned his juris doctor at UC Berkeley School of Law and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Anthony Scirica of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Derek has dedicated his career to standing with workers to advocate for their rights. He brings this passion and experience to our firm.
